2.A life-or-death test: An accident builds faith in quality
In 2014, just one week after the Huanghua-Shijiazhuang Expressway, which my father helped build, opened to traffic, an out-of-control car violently crashed into the bridge guardrail. Thanks to my father’s insistence on using hot-dip galvanized high-strength steel guardrails (galvanized layer of more than 100 microns, tensile strength of 600MPa), the guardrails successfully prevented the vehicle from falling off the bridge, saving the lives of a family of five. After recovering from the injuries, this family found my father and said in tears: “This guardrail is a life-saving ‘steel Great Wall’.” Since then, “quality is life” has become my family creed.
4.Three-generation relay: from Chinese standards to global protection
Grandfather’s military spirit, father’s technology, and family’s entrepreneurial spirit embody the factory’s core concept: “One collision, a lifetime of responsibility”. We reject “price wars” because the quality cost of guardrails can only be measured by life. As my father said: “Building roads is building merit, and protecting roads is protecting people’s hearts.”

1.Family inheritance: from military spirit to engineering mission
My grandfather was one of the first PLA soldiers in the new China and participated in many national infrastructure projects. He often said: “To defend the country, we must not only rely on the gun, but also on the road under our feet.” This belief deeply influenced my father. In the early days of reform and opening up, my father was the only “general engineer” in the local area who mastered architecture and electricity. From designing buildings, bridges to roads, he used technology to weave a transportation network for the northern land. In 2014, he keenly perceived the need to upgrade China’s highway safety facilities and shifted his focus to steel guardrail projects, contracting guardrail projects for dozens of highways and bridges in the north.
3.Industry chaos: stick to the bottom line and break through with technology
As China’s highway mileage exceeded 5.1 million kilometers, the demand for guardrails surged, but the market was flooded with inferior products: shoddy galvanized layers, thin plates less than 3mm, false anti-collision ratings… My father once said sadly: “Some factories dare to violate the GB/T31439-2015 standard in order to reduce prices.” But my family has always adhered to the bottom line and even built our own laboratory to benchmark the international standard JTGB05-01-2013 to ensure that every meter of guardrail can withstand 80km/h collisions and guide out-of-control vehicles.
